Man arrested in armed robbery spree in Pacific Beach, Clairemont, El Cajon
A suspect has been arrested in connection with a series of armed robberies that occurred in Pacific Beach, Clairemont, and El Cajon in the early hours of July 10. The first robbery took place around 2 a. m. when two victims were threatened with a gun while waiting for a ride. Following this, three additional robberies were committed at 7-Eleven stores in quick succession, with the suspect described as wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a face mask.
Police utilized automated license-plate-recognition technology to track the vehicle used in the robberies, leading to the identification of 22-year-old Anthony Caleb Johnson from Lakeside. Johnson was apprehended on Saturday and is currently held at San Diego Central Jail with a bail set at $200,000. The police are actively working to identify a second suspect who was involved in the spree. The incidents have raised concerns about safety in the neighborhoods affected. Authorities are continuing their investigation to prevent further criminal activity and ensure community safety.
