Public Invited RFA Annexation Town Hall Meetings - City of Edmonds, WA

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds is inviting its residents to participate in town hall meetings focused on the upcoming ballot measure for annexation to the Regional Fire Authority (RFA). These meetings, titled “Annexation Answers: What the RFA Vote Means to You,” will be led by city officials and representatives from South County Fire, providing essential insights into the potential impact of the vote. Scheduled meetings will take place in the Brackett Room at City Hall, with one hybrid option available via Zoom. The special election, set for April 22, 2025, follows a proposal by the Edmonds City Council approved on January 7, 2025. Since 2009, Edmonds has relied on South County Fire for fire and emergency medical services, with the existing contract concluding at the end of 2025.

If the annexation is approved by voters, property owners will pay South County Fire directly for these services. This transition aims to streamline fire services and enhance community safety. For further details, residents can access the city’s website or reach out via email regarding the RFA information.
