A whirlwind of a person Community remembers Edmonds nonprofit founder
The Edmonds community is coming together to honor Pam Martinez, founder of Holly House, who passed away due to congenital heart failure at 76. Since its inception in 2006, Holly House has been a beacon of hope for low-income families in the Edmonds School District, providing holiday gifts to over 2,600 children. Martinez's commitment to social justice was evident in her work, as she tirelessly organized events even while facing health challenges. Known for her caring nature, she would frequently check in on volunteers and community members, fostering a spirit of connection and support. Her brother, Rob Martinez, reminisced about her courage in standing up against societal injustices from a young age, illustrating her lifelong dedication to advocacy.
The recent holiday event, held in her memory, drew attention to the profound difference one individual can make in a community. Edmonds School District Superintendent Rebecca Miner praised her unwavering commitment to service and compassion. Martinez's legacy will continue to inspire others to engage in community service and philanthropy.
