6th Ave. Closure - City of Edmonds, WA

Edmonds, WALocal News

The City of Edmonds, WA, is set to close the intersection of Maple Street and 6th Avenue for three days, from October 12 to 14, 2021, from 7 AM to 5 PM, to allow for the installation of new storm pipes and structures. This construction is crucial for enhancing the city's drainage system and preventing flooding issues in the future. During the closure, vehicle traffic will not be permitted through the intersection, but access to driveways will be maintained to minimize disruption for local residents. Sidewalks will remain open, with pedestrian detours provided for safe crossing. Following the closure, traffic delays are anticipated as work will continue east along Maple Street towards 7th Avenue to replace existing storm infrastructure.

The construction schedule is weather-dependent, with updates to be communicated as necessary. This initiative is part of the City's annual replacement program aimed at upgrading storm lines that are outdated or undersized. Residents with inquiries can contact Greg Malowicki for further information or language assistance services.
