Civic Park Public Art Project Community Meeting
The City of Edmonds Arts Commission is hosting a community meeting on February 24, 2022, at 6:00 PM via Zoom to discuss the Civic Park Public Art Project, featuring a presentation by artist Clark Wiegman. Selected through a competitive process, Wiegman will present his concept, “Cascadia, Seawall and Lifeboat,” which aims to create a visually impactful installation in the park. The proposed artwork will utilize a shade structure as a base for a suspended sculpture and the restroom wall as a canvas for a vibrant two-dimensional piece. His design is rooted in thorough background research and community engagement, reflecting Edmonds' regional history and environmental issues. Wiegman emphasizes the importance of fostering a connection to the natural world through his art, inviting viewers to contemplate their relationship with the environment.
Community input is encouraged, with attendees able to share comments and questions during the Zoom meeting. Those unable to attend can submit inquiries via email ahead of time. This initiative highlights the city's commitment to integrating art into public spaces, enhancing the cultural fabric of Edmonds.
