The Ewing Park Lilac Arboretum in Des Moines, Iowa, is preparing for its annual bloom, set to commence on May 2, 2023, and lasting for approximately two weeks. This beautiful arboretum features over 1,000 lilac bushes, showcasing more than 250 distinct varieties, making it a must-see destination for flower enthusiasts. Originally part of the 357-acre Ewing Farm, the park has a rich history, having been designated as a public park in 1937 and officially opening its lilac garden in 1947. Visitors can enjoy the fragrant display while navigating through the arboretum, which is accessible via a one-way vehicle route along Harry Piper Parkway. The lilac overlook parking area will be open from 6 a.
