APSUs Education Programs See Record-Breaking Enrollment Growth

Austin Peay State University's Eriksson College of Education is witnessing unprecedented enrollment growth, particularly in its graduate programs, which are now running double cohorts. The nationally recognized Grow Your Own Teacher Residency program is on track to enroll its largest class ever, with over 70 new apprentices expected to join. Dr. Lisa Barron, the interim dean, highlighted that this extraordinary growth reflects the quality of the programs and the faculty's commitment to evolving educational needs. The Department of Educational Specialties has experienced remarkable increases in traditionally low-enrollment areas, such as the Master of Arts in Education in reading and curriculum instruction.

Overall graduate enrollment has surged by 44. 8% in the last two years, while job-embedded teacher certification programs saw an 82% rise in enrollment. The college also reported an 11. 4% increase in undergraduate enrollment, highlighting its proactive approach to tackling teacher shortages. This growth is attributed to intentional recruitment strategies and the recognition of the college's high-quality programs.
