The Chelan County Sheriff's Office reported that the accident occurred around 8:42 AM near Milepost 202 on Highway 97A. This catastrophic failure led to a fall of approximately 650 feet, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency responders were dispatched immediately, but unfortunately, Barstow was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Morrison emphasized the profound loss felt by the community and extended heartfelt condolences to Barstow's family and friends. Base jumping, while exhilarating, poses significant risks, as this incident tragically illustrates. The Sheriff's Office urges individuals to prioritize safety and caution in extreme sports.
