Sustainable NCW Earth Day Fair set for April 19 at Wenatchee Valley College
The Sustainable NCW Earth Day Fair is set for April 19 at Wenatchee Valley College, offering free environmental education activities from 10 a. m. to 2 p. m. The fair will kick off with a Fun Run and feature over 50 local vendors and organizations dedicated to sustainability, including the NCW Audubon Society and Chelan Douglas Land Trust.
Attendees can engage in bicycle maintenance workshops, visit an electronics disposal center, and join a tree campus tour led by WVC Professor Jennifer Hadersberger. A series of Eco-Talks will cover innovative environmental topics, fostering community dialogue on sustainability. Musical performances by local youth groups will enhance the festive atmosphere, while children can enjoy activities like chalk art and wildlife experiences. The event promotes eco-friendly practices, with food vendors using compostable serving ware and a silent auction to benefit Sustainable NCW. WVC President Faimous Harrison expressed excitement about the event's role in showcasing local sustainability efforts.
Following the fair, WVC will continue Earth Day celebrations with additional events on April 22 and 23, including poetry readings and nature hikes.
