Chelan, WALocal News

On April 12, 2025, local environmental groups and organizations will host the third annual "Restore the Shore" cleanup at Lake Chelan, a beloved natural landmark in Washington state. Volunteers will gather at the City Marina Parking Lot at 9:30 a. m. to participate in this community-wide initiative aimed at preserving the lakeshore's beauty. This year's event introduces the TrashBlitz app, developed by the 5 Gyres Institute, allowing participants to track and categorize the waste they collect.

A special cleanup in Stehekin is scheduled for April 11, led by Anna Galipeau from the Lake Chelan Research Institute, made possible by a grant from the TrashBlitz Ambassador Action Fund. Following the cleanup, volunteers can enjoy complimentary coffee, tea, and pastries provided by Campbell's Resort. Organizers encourage participants to bring reusable bags, gloves, and a phone or camera for documentation. This collaborative effort includes support from various local organizations, emphasizing community engagement in environmental stewardship.
