The Washington State Department of Transportation is launching the WE-Bike program on April 9, which will allow residents to apply for e-bike rebates over a two-week period. With an impressive budget of over $4 million for instant rebates, the program is designed to alleviate the financial burden of purchasing e-bikes and related accessories. Depending on income eligibility, participants can receive rebates of either $300 or $1,200, with an estimated 10,000 rebates available. The WE-Bike program website will provide crucial information, including eligibility criteria, a list of qualifying e-bikes, and retailer options. Program manager Adele Peers emphasized the program's accessibility, highlighting its bilingual website aimed at simplifying the application process.

Customer service agents will be on hand to assist applicants, ensuring a smooth experience for all. Additionally, the website features safety guidelines and maintenance tips for e-bike users, making it a valuable resource beyond just the rebate application. This initiative reflects Washington's commitment to promoting active transportation and sustainability, funded through the Climate Commitment Act revenues in the 2023-25 transportation budget.
