Deputies responded promptly, accompanied by Lake Wenatchee Fire & Rescue, to assist Germain, who was in distress and sought hospitalization. Despite visible emergency lights, Germain hesitated to leave his trailer and instead charged at the deputies with the machete in hand. Fortunately, he complied with commands to drop the weapon and lay on the ground, leading to his safe arrest. Prior to the confrontation, Germain had set his motorhome on fire, necessitating immediate action from firefighters to protect adjacent structures.

The incident required the evacuation of nearby residents due to the fire's potential danger. Germain now faces serious charges, including first-degree arson and weapon possession under Washington state law.
