Chelan, WALocal News

The Chelan County Board of Commissioners has moved forward with the development of the new Olds Station Campus, recently approving an “intent to award” letter to Cascade Central Construction, which submitted the lowest bid of $6. 7 million. This project is designed to consolidate several county departments, including the motor pool, coroner's office, and Sheriff’s Office functions, into one central location on Ohme Garden Road. Preparatory work on the site has already been completed, allowing for construction to begin within the next few months, with an anticipated completion date by fall. Financing for the project will be sourced from a combination of the Criminal Justice Sales Tax, the Rural Counties Tax, American Rescue Plan Act funds, and an established credit line with Banner Bank.

The county has also requested a Capital Budget proviso from the state Legislature and plans to seek federal funding through the Congressionally Directed Spending program. This initiative signifies a substantial commitment to improving county infrastructure and services for the community. As the project progresses, it is expected to have a positive impact on local governance and public safety. The new campus aims to enhance operational efficiency and accessibility for county residents.
