Anne Langham Whitfield Phillips, a passionate advocate for peace and environmental sustainability, passed away on February 15, 2024, following an unexpected accident during a walk in her neighborhood. Surrounded by her family at Valley Memorial Hospital, Anne's last moments were filled with love and appreciation. Born in Oxford, Mississippi, on August 27, 1938, she began her career as a child actor before shifting her focus to activism in the 1970s after relocating to Washington state. With a degree in Communications from Evergreen State College, she worked for the Department of Ecology, developing programs that are still in use today to combat pollution and promote clean water. Anne was deeply involved in various social issues, including climate change, women's rights, and support for refugees, actively participating in community initiatives until her last days.

Her legacy is carried on by her three adult children and seven grandchildren, who remember her as a devoted mother and grandmother. Friends and family encourage the community to continue her fight for a better world in her honor. Anne's life serves as a testament to the impact one individual can have on their community and beyond.
