The 2025 Love Your Block spring cleanups in Boston will take place on April 5 and April 12, as announced by Mayor Michelle Wu, celebrating ten years of community-driven beautification efforts. Originally known as Boston Shines, Love Your Block empowers residents to enhance their neighborhoods through various initiatives, including street cleanups and park revitalization. Registration is currently open for volunteers who wish to participate, with the deadline set for March 3, 2025. The program has seen impressive participation numbers, with over 2,000 volunteers across 121 sites last year. Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Love Your Block has engaged nearly 50,000 residents and improved close to 4,000 public spaces since its launch in 2009.

The Office of Civic Organizing will provide participants with a list of cleanup sites, further facilitating community involvement. Nathalia Benitez-Perez, Director of the OCO, emphasizes the importance of neighborly bonds and civic pride fostered by this initiative. The Downtown Boston Alliance will kick off the cleanups with an annual beautification project, reinforcing the city’s commitment to maintaining clean and beautiful public spaces.
