COCC presidential search narrowed to three finalists
The Central Oregon Community College (COCC) board of directors has narrowed its search for a new president to three finalists, following the upcoming retirement of current president Laurie Chesley. The selection process involved a thorough nationwide review, with an advisory committee assessing candidates based on their qualifications and fit for the role. The three finalists—Steve Erickson, Greg Pereira, and Angela Tos—will visit COCC campuses in January 2025 to engage with various stakeholders, including staff, students, faculty, and community members. Erickson, who has served as vice president at Minnesota State Community and Technical College, holds advanced degrees in higher education and engineering. Pereira, currently vice president for student affairs at Rio Salado College, has experience in both academic and student affairs.
Tos works as the vice president of student services at Coalinga College and has a background in enrollment services and student development. The board expects to make a decision on the new president by early 2025, a pivotal moment for COCC as it seeks leadership that upholds its values and serves its diverse community. This presidential search highlights COCC’s dedication to finding a leader who can navigate the challenges and opportunities in higher education today.
