Call for Artists Site Structures City of Bend Public Works Campus
The City of Bend has announced a call for artists to design three distinct structures for the new Public Works Campus, specifically a bike shelter, trash enclosure, and utility plant enclosure. This initiative, in partnership with Art in Public Places, invites artists to create 2D graphic art that will be laser cut onto rusted Corten metal panels, enhancing the aesthetic of the campus. The project aims to foster community involvement, encouraging participation from local artists, including students aged 16 and older, emerging talents, and seasoned professionals from Deschutes, Crook, or Jefferson counties. In spring 2025, the community will have an opportunity to view the digital renderings of the designs and provide feedback, emphasizing the City’s commitment to public engagement. Installation of the selected artwork is planned for 2025.
The City and Art in Public Places are particularly focused on promoting diversity, encouraging applications from BIPOC, women, LGBTQIA+, and disabled artists. This initiative not only supports local art but also seeks to reflect the community's rich cultural tapestry through public art. For more details on submission requirements, interested artists can visit the Art in Public Places website.
