Bellevue Essentials is a civic engagement class designed to immerse residents in the workings of city government, running from September 11 to November 20. This program offers participants the chance to attend classes on Wednesday evenings, along with two Saturday sessions that explore local neighborhoods and parks. Throughout the course, participants will interact with city council members and staff, gaining firsthand insights into the challenges and collaborations that shape Bellevue. With an impressive track record of over 370 graduates since 2013, many alumni have gone on to serve on city boards, commissions, and neighborhood associations. The tuition fee is $200, but financial waivers are available to ensure inclusivity for those in need.

A cohort of 35 participants will be selected based on demographic representation, emphasizing the importance of community diversity. Applications are due by July 21, motivating residents to engage with local governance.
