Bellevue, WALocal News

In a significant announcement, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning drivers about a "monstrous weekend" of construction closures in the Seattle area, starting on Friday, September 27. The closures will impact four major roadways between Seattle and Tacoma, beginning at 10 p. m. and lasting until early Monday morning. Additionally, a fifth major roadway will also face overnight closures on the same Friday night.

The affected routes include SR-520, Mercer Street, Northbound I-405, Southbound SR-167, and I-5, leading to potential traffic chaos for motorists. WSDOT is urging drivers to prepare for these disruptions by planning alternative routes well in advance. The construction work is part of ongoing initiatives to enhance the region's transportation infrastructure, which has faced increasing demands from a growing population. As the weekend approaches, the department emphasizes the importance of being aware of these changes to avoid delays. This proactive communication aims to minimize inconvenience for travelers in the area.
