Bellevue Invites Community Participation in City Manager Selection

Bellevue, WALocal News

Bellevue is actively involving its community in selecting a permanent city manager, marking a significant step in local governance. The city has opened a call for residents to submit interview questions, allowing for public input in a process not undertaken in over a decade. Community members can submit up to two questions, which city staff will compile for consideration in two upcoming public forums. Acting City Manager Diane Carlson will be interviewed during these sessions, with opportunities for attendees to provide feedback afterward. This initiative follows the Bellevue City Council's March decision to develop a candidate profile based on community feedback regarding desired skills and leadership qualities.

The council subsequently adopted this profile in May to ensure a transparent interview process. The public forums are scheduled for September, with livestream options available for broader access. Bellevue's approach highlights its dedication to engaging residents in governance and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
