Art of Listening workshops this fall

Bellevue, WALocal News

Bellevue is set to host a series of free "Art of Listening" workshops from September 24 to October 15, 2024, designed to enhance communication skills and relationships among participants. These interactive workshops will take place on Tuesdays from 6-8 p. m. at the Bellevue Library, led by Marci McReynolds, co-manager of the Bellevue Conflict Resolution Center. Attendees will learn to focus on and be present during conversations, tackling common listening habits that obstruct effective communication.

The workshops aim to teach participants how to validate and connect with others, emphasizing the transformative power of silence in conversations. McReynolds, who has taught listening skills for over 20 years, believes that the workshops will help individuals guide others back to their own wisdom rather than simply fixing their problems. Registration is required and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with attendance at all four classes expected. Auto-generated closed captioning will be available, and reasonable accommodations for those with disabilities can be requested. Interested individuals can register through the King County Library System's website.
