In a disturbing incident in downtown Bellevue, Washington, a 55-year-old man is recovering after being attacked with a machete by a 66-year-old man on Friday night. Police arrived on the scene shortly before 9 p. m. to find the victim bleeding heavily in the lobby of an apartment complex, where he had been struck in the upper left arm. The older man claimed the attack was a response to the victim allegedly stealing his wallet.
During the confrontation, the victim managed to spray bear spray in the attacker's face before he fled the scene in a silver Nissan sedan. Bellevue officers provided immediate medical assistance, applying a tourniquet to the victim until medics arrived for transport to a nearby hospital. Further updates on the case are expected as authorities continue their inquiries.
