Auburn Police release more details on March 13 carjacking pursuit

Auburn Police have provided further details on a carjacking incident that occurred on March 13, 2024, highlighting the effective response of local officers. At approximately 9:30 p. m. , police were called to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center regarding the theft of a black 2021 Toyota Highlander. Officer Bentz utilized the victim's stolen phone and the vehicle's GPS to track it to several locations, including a Metro Park and Ride and the Silver Shadow apartments.

The stolen vehicle was spotted leaving the apartments, prompting Officer Nguyen to initiate a pursuit. During the chase, the suspect vehicle collided with Officer Kemp's patrol car before veering into a parking lot where the three suspects attempted to escape on foot. Two of the suspects, aged 17 and 23, were apprehended and later identified by the victim, while a handgun was discovered in the vehicle. A third suspect is still at large and remains wanted by the police. The swift actions of the Auburn Police Department demonstrate their commitment to community safety and effective law enforcement.
