Terror organizations being funded from cars stolen from Atlanta, Georgia

Atlanta, GALocal News

According to federal officials, a troubling trend has emerged in Atlanta, where millions of dollars in stolen vehicles are being exported to fund terror organizations. U. S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has reported that high-end cars, including luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Ferrari, are being shipped out from the Port of Savannah to countries such as Ghana, Libya, Jordan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. In a striking example, a stolen Lamborghini was discovered with its identification numbers removed, underscoring the criminal methods employed.

Officer Joe Walkin emphasized that these operations often involve networks of individuals linked to multiple stolen vehicles, suggesting a significant level of organization. The agency has recovered 72 stolen vehicles valued at $7 million over the past year, revealing the scale of this illicit trade. The FBI has also initiated arrests related to these operations, indicating that authorities are taking action against those involved. The challenge remains in tracking down the perpetrators of these sophisticated schemes. This alarming trend raises concerns about how stolen vehicles are being used in the global trade of illicit funds.
